Cookie Policy
Last updated: September 2026
1. Introduction
This policy explains how Dali & Co Accountants Ltd ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on this website, how our website measurement works, and the choices available to you. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal data more generally.
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised.
2. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to store on your device and send back on later visits. They are widely used to make websites work, to keep users signed in, to remember choices, and to help website owners understand how their sites are used.
We do not use session recording, keystroke logging, browser fingerprinting, or any third party advertising network's tracking cookies, and we do not permit any third party to place advertising cookies on this website.
3. Strictly necessary cookies
These are required for the website to work securely and are set without consent, because the services you request cannot be provided without them.
- Your privacy choices (
dali_analytics,dali_ads,dali_stats). When you answer our cookie question or object to statistics, your answers are stored for twelve months, whichever way you answered. Remembering a refusal is what prevents the website from asking again on every visit. - Administration sign in (
dali_admin_session). Keeps our own team signed in to the administration area. It is set only there, only after signing in, and expires with the session. Visitors never receive it. - Form protection. Our booking and application forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to distinguish people from automated software. Cloudflare may set a cookie strictly for that security check while you complete a protected form.
- Staff device marker (
dali_team). Our own team can mark their devices so our visits to our own website are reported separately rather than counted as visitors. Set only from our administration area, at the team member's own request, never on a visitor.
4. Website statistics
We measure how the website is used so we can improve it: which pages are viewed, which sections of a page are actually read, how far pages are scrolled, how long they hold attention, and how many visitors reach our booking page. This measurement is first party, is used only to understand and improve this website, and is never used for advertising or shared with anyone.
It works without storing anything on your device. Each visit is recorded against a reference that changes every day and cannot be traced back to you afterwards, with your approximate area (to roughly the nearest town, never a precise location). Detailed records are kept for a limited period (see section 7) and then reduced to aggregate statistics, such as how many visitors a month read our reviews; the individual records are deleted.
UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025) permits first-party statistical measurement of this kind without consent, provided we tell you about it and give you a simple, free way to object. The Website statistics switch in our is that objection mechanism: switch it off and measurement for this browser stops immediately.
5. Analytics and attribution cookies
Set only with your consent, given through our cookie settings.
- Visitor reference (
dali_device). A single cookie containing a randomly generated reference with no personal information in it, readable only by our own server, kept for up to twelve months. It lets us recognise that the same anonymous visitor returned, and understand which journeys through the website commonly lead to enquiries.
If you consent to these cookies and later book a consultation with us, the visitor reference is linked to your booking. From that point the associated browsing journey is treated as pseudonymous personal data connected to your enquiry, handled under our Privacy Policy. It is used only to understand which parts of our website help people decide, and it is never shared with anyone.
6. Advertising measurement
Set only with your consent, given through our cookie settings. These help us understand whether our advertising leads to enquiries and new clients.
When you arrive from an advert, the advertising platform (such as Google) attaches a click reference to the link. If you allow advertising measurement, we keep that reference, and if you subsequently make an enquiry, the platform may later receive the fact that a conversion occurred, connected to its own click reference, so we can measure and improve our campaigns. What the platform receives is limited to conversion facts: it does not receive your browsing on this website, the pages or sections you read, or any confidential information.
If you do not allow advertising measurement, the click reference is not kept against your visit and nothing about you is ever reported to any advertising platform. We may still record the general channel a visit came from (for example, "paid search") as part of our first-party statistics.
6a. Similar technologies
When you move between pages, the page you are leaving may note in your browser's temporary session storage which control you used (for example, the navigation menu or a link in the text), so our statistics can describe how visitors travel through the website. This note contains no identifier, never leaves your browser except as part of the statistics described above, is deleted the moment the next page reads it, and disappears when the tab closes. It is not set when you have objected to website statistics.
7. How long things are kept
- Website statistics records: each day's individual records are reduced to aggregate statistics and then deleted promptly, normally the following morning; only the aggregates are kept. If a day's aggregation has not completed, its records are held until it has, and never deleted before.
- Consented measurement records: where you have allowed analytics and attribution, detailed records are kept for up to 180 days, after which they are deleted, with only aggregate statistics retained.
- Advertising click references: never stored unless you have allowed advertising measurement. With that permission, the reference is kept for up to 180 days so a later enquiry can be matched to the advert; once its day's statistics are aggregated (normally the following morning) it is reduced to the reference and the visit's arrival channel, with the browsing detail removed.
- Consent records: kept as proof of your choices for up to six years.
- Cookies themselves: all our cookies expire within twelve months at most.
8. Managing your preferences
You can review or change your choices at any time:
You can also control cookies through your browser. In Safari, open Settings, then Privacy; on an iPhone or iPad, go to Settings, then Safari. In Chrome, open Settings, then Privacy and security, then Cookies. Blocking the strictly necessary cookies described above may prevent sign in and form protection from working, although the public website will remain readable without them.
